We would be delighted to help you plan your trip to India, whether that be a private or escorted tour, or even just a beach holiday to Goa or Kerala. You can pop in the shop for an initial chat, or ideally make an appointment for a convenient time. We can follow up by phone and email or face to face if you decide to take it further.
Taj Mahal at sunrise
The classic 'Golden triangle' tour is Delhi + Agra + Jaipur. Typically 6 or 7 nights, this is an easy route that takes in both Old and New Delhi, the Taj Mahal in Agra, and the Amber Fort in Jaipur. And along the way you'll also visit a deserted city between Agra and Jaipur. Wendy Wu's 'Golden Triangle' tour does exactly this and has a bonus on the last night when you'll enjoy a Bollywood Show!
Longer tours allow time to visit the holy city of Varanasi and Ranthambore National Park where if you're lucky, you might spot a tiger. Titan's 16 day 'Splendours of India' includes both, plus Udaipur, India's 'romantic city' famous for Lake Pichola.
There are a couple of festivals that make a trip to India at that time extra special. Holi is the festival of colours, normally in March, when everyone throws brightly coloured powders around, and I know from being there that there's no escape! Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights, normally October / November, and tours operating around that time will incorporate the celebrations into the itinerary, such as Newmarket's 'India - Tigers & The Taj Mahal' which has a special departure each year to coincide with the festival.
Other experiences include a night in a beautiful tented resort in the Aravali Hills as part of Newmarket's 'India- Tigers, The Taj & Shimla' 13 day tour, and the train to Shimla features in several tours such as Riviera Travel's 'Rajasthan, Taj Mahal, Amritsar' 15 day tour which also includes the desert resort of Puskar. And fans of the film 'Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' can have lunch in the hotel featured in the film as part of Newmarket's 'India's Marigold Hotel Experience' tour.
Luxury options include extra comfortable seating, VIP home pickup, personal headsets so that you have the freedom to wander about while still hearing the commentary, and help with all your luggage.
Here's a tour that I think includes some of the best places such as Varanasi and Udaipur, and uses pretty good hotels...
Collette's Mysteries of India
The best way to start the ball rolling is to give us a few details such as when you want to go, which tour operators (if any) you've been with before. Making an appointment is ideal as it gives us a chance to check a few things in advance, but you can always just pop in the shop.
And remember, you never pay a penny more when you book any of these tours through us - the price you pay is the advertised online price, assuming it's accurate.
