We would be delighted to help you plan your trip to Canada and Alaska, whether that be an escorted tour with or without a cruise, or an independent self drive. You can pop in the shop for an initial chat, or ideally make an appointment for a convenient time. We can follow up by phone and email or face to face if you decide to take it further.
Maligne Lake, Jasper
The classic itinerary for a Canadian Rockies to Vancouver trip is Banff - Jasper - Vancouver, followed possibly by a 7 night round trip Alaska cruise. Some tours will also include the 2 day Rocky Mountaineer in the itinerary, while the cheaper options will do this journey by coach.
There are dozens of different options, all offering something slightly different. Here's a few of the things to think about...
•   Quality and location of hotels
•   Quality of the cruise ship
•   VIP home pickup - is this important to you?
•   The itinerary - how much time in the most spectacular parts of the Rockies around Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper?
•   Is the train included as part of the package or coach?
We'll also help you with the flights, and any airport hotels and/or car parking if it makes things easier for you. Some tours have fixed flights so essentially you have to go only on the dates that are offered, but often we're able to take you out a couple of days earlier if you'd like to do you own thing before (or after) the tour.
Here's an example of one of our best selling escorted tours that includes a cruise on the Yangtze.
Titan's Deluxe Alaska Cruise
The best way to start the ball rolling is to give us a few details such as when you want to go, which tour operators (if any) you've been with before. Making an appointment is ideal as it gives us a chance to check a few things in advance, but you can always just pop in the shop.
And remember, you never pay a penny more when you book any of these tours through us - the price you pay is the advertised online price, assuming it's accurate.
As with escorted tours, the classic road trip is Banff - Jasper - Vancouver, and then possibly a 7 night round-trip cruise to Alaska. If you're not doing the cruise, there can be a couple of good reasons for reversing the order - Vancouver to Jasper to Banff.
Icefields Parkway, Canada
Based on your desired holiday duration and any particular interests, we'll design a tailor made package that fits your budget. For the hotels, all you need to do is let us know what category you'd prefer (standard, superior or premium) and we'll give you a quotation based on the best accommodation choice available, taking into account its quality, price and reviews or feedback. Sometimes we'll suggest a room upgrade, for example when there is a room with a view at a relatively small supplement. And sometimes we might suggest a higher category hotel if we see one that has particularly good rates at the time. The benefit for you is that you'll end up with a very nice itinerary for the money.
A very typical itinerary, which can be done either way round is as follows:
Vancouver:   3 nights
then either drive to take the Rocky Mountaineer train to Jasper with a night in Kamloops
Kamloops:   1 night
Jasper:   3 nights
Banff:   3 nights
Expanding the classic itinerary above, you could spend a night or two at Lake Louise (although it's only a 45 min drive from Banff), or go to Vancouver Island which is famous for the Butchart Gardens. For something very special, Knight Inlet is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get up close to grizzly bears. Despite the costs involved, you'll usually need to book at least a year in advance.
The World famous Rocky Mountaineer train has a number of routes, including Vancouver to Jasper and Vancouver to Banff (and vice versa). This 2 day trip with a night in a hotel can be incorporated into any tailor made trip. As well as the Rocky Mountaineer, there is also the longer 4 night journey from Toronto to Vancouver, and for the ultimate experience book the Prestige Cabin which comes with a double bed. You can sit up in bed and watch the amazing scenery go by.
Finally, it is also quite simple to combine a stay in Western Canada with Eastern Canada, for example Toronto. So you can break your journey and stay a couple of nights in Toronto with a day trip to Niagara Falls. All these possibilities can easily be included in your itinerary.
The best way to start the ball rolling is to give us a few brief details about your requirements and make an appointment to come in at a later date. That way we can prepare a quick itinerary for you ready for when you come in.
Alaska cruises are a great way to finish a Canadian Rockies tour, but equally can be enjoyed in their own right, perhaps with a land tour of Alaska after the cruise. We can put almost anything together for you, but here's a few tips to help you make sense of the enormous choice!
Glacier Bay, Alaska
•   Cruises depart from either Seattle or Vancouver. Unless you are actually in Seattle however, there is little reason to sail from there, so stick to Vancouver departures.
•   Some are one-way (e.g. Vancouver to Seward) and others are round trip (Vancouver to Vancouver). The advantage of the one-way journeys is that you can add a few days on land in Alaska at the end of your cruise.
•   If you do stay on land in Alaska, the main highlight is Denali National Park. Mount Denali is the highest peak in North America, but the wildlife is the main attraction including moose and grizzly bears.
•   The majority of cruises are 7 nights, but some are longer - 8, 10 or 11 nights. These typically are with the luxury cruise lines.
•   The weather will be mixed so pack for all seasons!
•   A balcony cabin is an upgrade worth having if you can afford it.
•   The season runs from May (or late April) to September, and high season is considered to be June, July And August when the weather is better.
If you're ending your cruise in Alaska on a one-way sailing, then we would be delighted to put together a little post cruise itinerary for you. Alternatively some cruise lines run their own post-cruise tours which takes care of all the travel and may include one or two excursions. Rail service to Denali is included as are all the transfers.
