China - Guided Tours
Escorted tours are by far the most popular way of travelling around China, due to the complex nature of tailor made holidays. However, choosing the right tour from the hundreds available can be a daunting task, but that's where we come in to offer advice and suggest to a shortlist of tours that might work best for you.
We'll briefly explain the key differences between the different tour operators, and then find two or three tours that match your dates, budget and other requirements.
On some tours you may be able to add an extension in either Hong Kong or Dubai, so we'll assist with this, and also explain about the visa requirements, and the new rules surrounding what you have to do.
And if you're not sure what you'd like to see besides the Great Wall of China and Terracotta Army, then again we'll use our first hand knowledge to show you the key places to visit in China, which will help you choose the ideal tour for you.
And finally, if you're unsure when to go, then we'll advise about the weather and the times of year NOT to go!
China - Cruises
Many tours of China incorporate a 3 or 4 night cruise on the Yangtze River as part of the overall itinerary, and while there are no particular 'iconic' sights to see, it is a fantastic way to recharge after what may be several days full on touring. You'll still pass through lovely scenery and enjoy a few excursions along the way, plus watching life along the river.
There is far less choice when it comes to ocean cruises than with escorted tours. Generally, they'll be combined with South Korea, Japan, and possibly Taiwan.
Finally, if you don't get to do a Yangtze cruise then I can highly recommend a half day trip up the Li River. This was a very relaxing morning and we sailed through quite unbelievably stunning scenery.
