Where to stay in Lanzarote

This is of course one of the most popular holiday destinations for those wanting to escape the sometimes dreary UK weather. There's very little rain at any time of year, summers are hot and sunny and winters are much warmer than in the UK. You often feel a welcome breeze, especially in the North East of the island.

There's 3 main resorts, Costa Teguise, Puerto del Carmen, and Playa Blanca. Of these, the biggest and busiest is Puerto del Carmen with many shops and restaurants, and a harbout. At night it's the place to enjoy lively cocktail bars, clubs, Irish pubs, and much more.

Playa Blanca is the calmest, with a delightful marina surrounded by bars and restaurants, and a promenade stretches for a few miles linking the beaches. Not much in the way of karaoke bars, but like many places it has grown over the years. 

And Costa Teguise fits somewhere between the two, with a beautiful town square, a relaxed vibe and also the best spot for water sports. At night there's often a band playing in the main square.

The main attraction on the island is Timanfaya National Park with it's dramatic volcanic landscapes. There's a couple of waterparks, one near Costa Teguise, and one near Playa Blanca.

• Barcelo Teguise Beach, Costa Teguise (4* half board or all inclusive) - adults only, excellent location by the seafront in the centre of Costa Teguise 
• H10 White Suites, Playa Blanca (4* bed & breakfast, half board, or all inclusive) - adults only, lovely pool area
• Boutique Kamezi Villas, Playa Blanca (4* self catering or bed & breakfast) - 2, 3 and 4 bedroom villas on a complex with restaurant and spa
• H10 Rubicon Palace, Playa Blanca (4.5* bed & breakfast, half board, or all inclusive) - great for families, this is a larger hotel but has a village feel to it with pretty plazas and boulevards
• H10 Suites Lanzarote Gardens, Costa Teguise (4* bed & breakfast, half board, or all inclusive) - great for families and in particular for children with the pirate ship splash pool and the option of entry to the nearby Aquapark Costa Teguise
• Iberostar Lanzarote Park, Playa Blanca (5* bed & breakfast, half board, or all inclusive) - the hotel is split into 3 sections, adults only, families and mixed, so might be a perfect choice for a group that includes both couples and families. Great location by the beach, with splash park for the younger ones and scout-like concept kids club for the older children.
• Gran Castillo Tagoro, Playa Blanca (4.5* half board, or all inclusive including a plus option) - great for families, this has a 5D cinema, Castleland for the kids, and choice of pool areas
• Secrets Lanzarote, Puerto Calero (5*  bed & breakfast, half board, or all inclusive) - adults only seafront hotel, the superb all inclusive package includes a-la-carte dining in a choice of restaurants
• Princess Yazia Suite Hotel, Playa Blanca (5* bed & breakfast or half board) - great for families, in a prime beachfront location with lots of facilities for kids and a wide choice of restaurants
• La Isla Y El Mar Hotel Boutique, Puerto Del Carmen (5* bed & breakfast or half board) - adults only, this is a smaller and very stylish, boutique hotel, and ideal for a chill out holiday 
• Dreams Lanzarote, Playa Blanca (5* bed & breakfast, half board, or all inclusive) - premium family resort by the beach with a variety of sports, activities and entertainment, while the all inclusive package includes a choice of speciality restaurants

Based on a week in mid June 2025, including flights from London Stansted, all inclusive package prices range from around £1050 per person up to around £1,700 plus per person, but with some many board options there is a wide variety of prices.
