Where to stay for a brilliant holiday on The Turquoise Coast, Turkey

The Turquoise Coast includes the whole area of coastline that can be visited when flying into Dalaman Airport. It's where you'll find both lively and busy towns such as Marmaris, but also some of the most charming resorts, and as the same suggests, beautiful beaches.

The weather tends to be fabulous throughout the summer season, although by late September and into October it has cooled a bit, and you'll need a jacket for the evenings.

Here's a quick guide to some of our favourite resorts...

Dalyan - a medium size resort set on a stunning river with a wide choice of excellent bars and restaurants. The beach is a 45 minute relaxing boat trip away, and many customers say this is their favourite place in Turkey. Carved into the cliffs across the river are the Lycian Rock Tombs dating back from the 4th century. And nearby you can take a mud bath which is great for the skin!

Kalkan - upmarket resort with a marina and access to beaches, plus numerous bars and restaurants both down by the harbour and up the hill with brilliant views. As well as the small town beach, there are a number of beach clubs serving quality food and drinks plus places to relax and sun loungers, usually for a modest charge.

Fethiye - a small town with a number of excellent hotels - the centre is a place for both tourists and locals, while gulets (wooden boats) are ready to take you on boat trips to nearby islands.

Olu Deniz - small to medium seaside resort with a great atmosphere in the evenings and an excellent beach right in the centre, and is also famed for the stunning Blue Lagoon which is one of the most photographed beaches in Turkey.

Dalyan Resort Hotel, Dalyan (4*, bed & breakfast) - in a peaceful area by the river, there's a good spa and 3 pool areas.

Dalyance Hotel, Dalyan (4*, bed & breakfast) - small and friendly hotel in a great location in Dalyan, perfect for a relaxing holiday and easily walkable to all the local cafes and tavernas.

Dalyan Live Spa, Dalyan (4*, bed & breakfast) - small hotel with lovely pool areas and an excellent spa.

Oyster Residences, Olu Deniz (3*, bed & breakfast) - small and charming, adults-only hotel in a wonderful central location and perfect for the beach.

Olu Deniz Blu Luxury Unique, Olu Deniz (4*, bed & breakfast) - adults-only, boutique style hotel. Some swim up rooms available at a modest upgrade cost.

Montana Pine Resort, Olu Deniz (4.5*, all inclusive) - this is set in the hillside above Olu Deniz and has been a favourite with customers for many years. There's a great, friendly atmosphere, and of course you get the wonderful views.

Remote, Sarigerme (5*, bed & breakfast) - small, peaceful hotel with just 13 rooms - this is all about relaxation, with good food and cocktails.

Samira Exclusive Hotel & Apartments, Kalkan (4* self catering or bed & breakfast) - lovely pool area and a choice between a self catering or bed & breakfast option.

Letoonia, Fethiye (5*, all inclusive) - plenty to do with a number of pools, bars and restaurants. Lovely village feel to this hotel with entertainment including live music.

Jiva Beach Resort, Calis (5*, all inclusive) - stylish hotel with direct access to the beach and great entertainment  options. Children are well catered for with a kids club, playground, play area and children's pool.

Likya Residence, Kalkan (4*, bed & breakfast) - small, premium hotel set in a beautiful location. There's a peaceful atmosphere and superb views over the bay.

Liberty Fabay, Calis (5*, all inclusive) - with excellent dining options, this larger hotel caters for both couples and families very well, with the highlight for the kids being the on-site aqua park.

Liberty Lykia Adults Only, Olu Deniz (5*, all inclusive) - adults only hotel with it's own private beach. Lots of food and drink options as well as pool areas. Great views of the mountains surrounding Olu Deniz.

D Resort Gocek, Fethiye (5*, bed & breakfast) - premium hotel in the centre of Gocek which is a small harbour town near Fethiye. It has a contemporary style and there's a shuttle to a private beach.

Hillside Beach Club, Fethiye (5*, full board plus) - one of the premium hotels with lots of activities and entertainment, plus 4 private beaches to choose from depending on whether you want a lively or peaceful day.
